What is ECU Remapping?
Every modern vehicle contains an Engine Control Unit (ECU)—a specialized computer that regulates critical engine functions such as air-to-fuel ratios, ignition timing, and turbo boost pressure.
When a vehicle leaves the factory, conservative default software (known as a “map”) is installed on the ECU. Manufacturers apply these restrictive settings to accommodate varying fuel qualities, extreme climates, and neglected maintenance schedules worldwide, effectively restricting the engine’s capability.
ECU remapping (also known as tuning or chipping) involves reading the factory software and overwriting it with a custom-optimized file. Adjusting these internal parameters unlocks hidden engine performance, resulting in increased horsepower, stronger torque, sharper throttle response, and improved overall drivability.

A standard remapping process typically takes between 2 to 3 hours to complete from start to finish.
Yes. The original factory software file is extracted, backed up, and securely stored in the database. The vehicle can be reverted to its standard factory settings in the future if required.
A 30-day no-quibble reflash policy is included. The aim is always to achieve the perfect result on the same day, but if adjustments are needed within the first 30 days, the file will be tweaked and reflashed, or the vehicle can be reverted to stock.
No refunds are provided. It is important to understand the nature of this service: computers are being remapped, cars are not being mechanically repaired.
Under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, ECU remapping constitutes a bespoke digital service and software installation. Because the digital content is custom-configured and fully delivered upon installation, the standard 14- or 30-day refund periods for physical goods do not apply. If a vehicle has underlying mechanical faults, a software remap will not fix them. The 30-day reflash policy is in place to ensure the software itself operates exactly as requested, but the service charge for the digital file and installation is strictly non-refundable.
